Yes it is possible to add extra POIs, there is a utility called Extension Editor downloadable from the Navicore site. It converts Tomtom .ov2 files and creates a file which is installable on your phone.

Copy the converted file into the extensions folder on the memory card. When you next start Navicore it will ask you if you want to install extension, Navicore 'moves' the installed POI file to extensions\installed. They should then appear in the POI list on the phone. I have done a couple this way BP garages etc and they worked fine. Sorry I can't give it a go at the mo. as phone away for repair.
