Stop! That's the wrong sort of question to be asking here.

Whilst I generally agree, you can't really blame people who are upset at not being able to upgrade TT5. TT have only themselves to blame when the hackers and suchlike, get to work on the TT6 maps.

Well is also looks like the australian maps are also well out of date.

You can see why people get upset when they buy these things with the web site touting how upto date they are yet should really have a disclaimer saying that the info could be as much as 2 years out of date. And Im not talking little problems like a roundabout missing, im talking entire major trunk roads. This too is a reason people choose the illegal option.

Sorry Tim but I don't read it that way

Introducing a new map update program. Starting in the beginning of the third quarter of 2006, existing TomTom customers will be able to purchase the latest maps at a discount. Each map package also includes free updates to the TomTom software

So what is it that you want? Do you want to use V6 software with your existing maps? Existing users getting a discount counts as an upgrade path in my opinion.

A1/M62 mapping is a mess.
Shows on the map but it is miles out
If you have a route plotted using the A1 it constantly tries to redirect which is hopeless. If you were relying on it I dont think you would get past this junction. Probably go round in circles forever.
At least with TT5 and the latest maps ( I think 6.32) it doesnt try to reroute, it just goes off map.
The only advantage with TT6 for me is that I can get all Europe on one map.
Incidentally, the make your own menu thing works OK but obviously some TT6 things are missing.
Still no auto scrolling map

A few observations so far

1 The speed is wrong on the M5 from Bristol south. Shows 60 and it's obviously 70, so all the way down you get the red/flashing, etc

2 It would be nice to have the option to switch off the speed red/flash as it makes it hard to read sometimes and can be annoying (thank goodness it doesn't beep too)

3 Some nice improvements inc - POI near destination, you, city, etc

4 Older voices and custom menu's still work

5 It starts faster and seems to lock onto sats quicker too.

Strange as I find version 6 maps fine through this section on my 910, yes it leaves the road twice but doesn't trigger a re-route, the TTN5 certainly gets confused through this junction though.
I will try version 6 of TTN on the PDA once it is made available for purchase - Mike

Well, the procedure has started it seems!
I have just reinstalled Windows XP after a disastrous Vista RC1 experience and thought i would try downloading TomTom Home, just to see if it recognised my PDA. Tried this a week or so ago and wouldn't register.

So i connected the dell axim x30 and b**ger me, it recognised it!

It says there are no updates available, but considering the old (last week) HOME wouldn't recognise it, i would say that constitutes a firm imminency (made up word) of release!

Could anyone please tell me if the new map data has a road called 'Apple Farm Grange' in London N10. Thanks very much in advance.

You may be pleased to know that this road has been miraculously renamed as Leaside Avenue.

A quick check of half a dozen or so roads on this list shows that the name on the left is the one on the new maps.

Hallelujah! I had an exhaustive correspondence with TeleAtlas and TomTom about 18 months ago in which I itemised over 50 mis-named roads in north London, and eventually TeleAtlas corrected the data. At last TomTom have done the same.

Many thanks
