I recently received a reply from Tom Tom about an upgrade from v5.21 to v6. their reply is:
"We do not currently offer that possibility, the Navigator 6 software is a new product and it is required to purchase the full product if you have a compatible device. You may view a list of compatible device for Navigator 6 by visiting the following link on our website: http://www.tomtom.com/products/features.php?ID=260&Language=1" |

But 'that' could be wrong, of course.[/quote]
There seems to be a lot of dis-(or mis)information floating around.
It would appear from earlier posts regarding V6 by the moderators - and indeed has already been said - that TomTom has given out full specs for the new product.
Can we clear up, once and for all, what is or isn't in it, what will or will not work and what is the public release date.
We all rely on the information provided in this and other Forums for making decisions regarding what we purchase. They are a useful tool for us mere mortals, but seem to be causing more frustration, unhelped by the increasing smugness of those apparantley in the know!
Let us in on it, or state that you are unable to please! _________________ If you aren't living on the edge, you're taking up too much room! |

TomTom have released the specs on their website. Officially their compatibility list states what TTN6 will work with. Unofficially it should work with WM2003 devices but not with PPC2002 or earlier.
Any smugness perceived is certainly not intended.
I do not know the public release date. _________________ Tim |

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support. The map version for Navigator 6 will obviously be the latest version as it will be released for sale at a later date, however this software is only for use on Pocket PC, PDA and mobile phones. We are constantly updating the mapping data, but I could not reliably inform you that the changes to postcode and/or street information will vary greatly from the current version.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
ps
is it gonna be worth it ??????????????????????? |
Answer to that is No, the maps are still outdated, im very dissapointed.
im going to use my wifes IGO 2006 navigator, funny thing is tele atlas supply the map data for it but some roads are present while they are missing in the latest tom tom 6. |

I asked Tom Tom about compatibility with other PDA's. The only O" PDA listed is the XDA Exec. As I have an XDA IIi I am concerned that it may not work with it (2003SE).
This is their reply;
"Device which currently are listed in our compatibility list are devices which have emerged from our test period and have been found to work free of problems with our new software. Presently only the O2 XDA exec is supported form the O2 line of devices. We are, however, continuously testing devices to find a method to use our software on these devices, If your PocketPC is found to be suitable at a later stage it will be added to our list."
Hope this helps others.
BTW Does anyone have a PDA running Mobile 2003SE on any of the PDA's on TomTom's compatibility list? |

this is interesting as I asked the same question and got the following reply
"Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
In regards to your query, yes there will be a Map upgrade offer for Navigator 5 in the near future. Please keep an eye on the newsletter for details of the release.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team"
Let's wait and see! |

The M62 and A1 junction on TT6 is there? But its is not mapped right. TT6 maps are not up todate. some bypass's are not on. TomTom is the best, but the maps are old and crap. |
