How on earth do I copy all my Favourites from TomTom Nav 5 Pocket PC to TomTom GO 910?
The only way I found so far is to create an Itinerary on the Pocekt PC, which has all the Favourites listed in turn. Save it on the TT5. Copy the ITN file to the GO910 and load it. Click "Show on Map" for each Itinerary item and then click the "four sided icon" and select "Add as new Favorite". Have to give it a name every time...
This is tiresome. Has anyone writtern and nice conversion program?
Don't try copying the TT5 [mapname].cfg file to the TomTom GO 910 MapSettings.cfg file as it just gets wiped - oh and the TomTom GO password seems to dissapear too... but maybe that was a coincidence. |

Why not just convert all your favourites to a POI category, then just copy the ov2 file across?
You'll still have to do each one individually, but I'm sure it will be less button presses than going via an itinerary and the map every time.
Make new POI category called "Favs" or whatever
Go "Add POI" / "Favourite" and select each one in turn
When done, copy favs.ov2 to the other machine
Either leave it as a POI category, or reverse the process to turn them back into Favourites. |

Yes, got it.
Thanks this works nicely enough.
A bit worrying about the PIN number being removed though. I assume TomTom can fix it so that the "connect to computer" message comes AFTER the PIN number is entered, not before... |

Now that TT Home can handle mutiple handsets i think it would be a great thing to be able to synchronise or otherwise maintain these units directly thoruhg TT Home. That way it would be a lot easier to handle favourites, itineraries etc.
Another great thing would be a utility that let you import and export all your favourites via a flat file. Then you could share these with friends and visitors. Why not also something like the Google Earth placemarks? These can be emailed to friends. Very handy if they are going to visit you at your cabin. |

You can already share your own POI categories (.ov2 files), itineraries (.itn files), custom menus (.mnu files), colour schemes (.clr files) etc.
It is only a problem with Favourites, because TomTom decided to share that file and use it for other configuration settings too. |
