I managed to get hold of maps of the usa that are all split up into their states, however when i try copying one state to the sd card, (i also removed my previous australian maps) and i load tomtom, it dosnt find the new map. Only australia works. I noticed that the australian folder has two extra files: Australia.mms and Australia-Map.cfg. Does anyone know how to make these maps work?

Have you got the official CD's or SD Card 
If so, just follow the prompts. If not, and I am prsumingh that you would not have a product code either, I will be surprised if you get any help on here.

Yep All you need is the correct product code, which you will find on the card that came with the legitinmate software you bought.
