GPS III PC interface/cigarette lighter adapter fuse

The fuse in the cigarette lighter plug of the 7 year old "PC Interface with cigarette lighter adapter" for my GPS III has blown. I think this is Garmin part number 010-10165-00.

So far as I can tell from trying to read the engraving on the fuse this is a 250 mA, 250 V fuse (it's a glass 1.25 inch fuse).

I've emailed Garmin technical support, but the auto-reply suggests 5 to 7 days before they reply, so whilst I wait ... can anyone hazard a guess as to whether the replacement should be a fast-acting or a time-delay fuse?

By experiment, a fast-acting fuse works fine.

I suspect the cause of the fuse blowing in the first place was damage to the power cable that goes from the cigarette lighter to the 9-pin DIN connector (where it is connected into the cable to the Garmin connector). I needed to replace the power cable to get it working reliably. It has lasted 7 years, so that's not too bad.
