Hi just got a 910 and cant work out how to pre-lan a route in advance and then start it up.
Am I being stupid?
The reason this is important to me is Im visiting the USA and canada and want to plan some of my routes in advance so I can check travel times and distances.
Any suggestions?

| Well I thought so but all it does is let you access your tomtoms screen on your pc? dont seem to get any different options or settings???? |

| Have a look at using the "Itinerary" planning option, you can have a read of how to use it HERE once set-up you can recall a pre-planned route - Mike |

The problem with the itinery is it doesnt actually let you pre PLAN!
For example on itinery you choose a start and a finish point but then cant view the route? or time etc!
you can only do that by using the preplan route option, but using that option to create the route means you cant save it!?
So you end up having to set up your route using pre plan route then remember all the stops and then go to itinery and type it all in again!
seems odd or am I just doing it wrong? |

| With your US maap loaded. Use the advanced planning mode to view the route and times. Then create and save an itinerary using the start and finish points used in the advanced plan. A little long winded but you can help by saving start and finish points as favorites when doing the advanced planning. This makes input into the itinerary a bit quicker. Then load the itinerary when you get to the USA. |

| Thanks Mullet that sounds like the best way, just seems more complicated than it needs to be! seems odd that you cant just once having preplanned a journey choose to save that as an itinery! |

Hi stustaff,
I don't know if this will help, but if you have Microsoft's AutoRoute or MapPoint, you can add waypoints to your route, and even optimise your route and save it as an AXE file.
You can then use a program called ITNConv which you can download here, and convert the AXE file to a TomTom ITN file.

An Itinerary (in simple terms, a POI File with an ITN Extension) allows you to Plan the Order in which you visit a number of Waypoints on the Way to a Destination.
When you pick a Waypoint it is usually best to use a Point on the Map and Zoom in as far as possible. You have to choose a point on a road, even the right side of a dual carriageway, or you will get unpredictable results.
One anomaly is that if you use 'City Centre', and choose even a small village, it will not always take you to that place, but will pass nearby if the routeing sees a 'short cut' to the next Waypoint.
I haven't tried it with V6.15 to see if this quirk has been sorted yet.
