It's kinda funny to hear 'Gatso 30' when you're on a motorway...

It's actually quite scary to hear it on an NSL road!

I guess there's no real way to verify the camera database, so you have to accept a certain error rate.

Yes, a certain error rate has to be accepted. Even if it were perfect when it was released, it would not be so within a very short time, that is why regular updates are required, some would argue more regularly than the current monthly cycle.
