HP iPAQ hx4700 problems

I have not been able to synchronise my hx4700 for about 2 weeks now. I have tried soft resets, hard resets, reinstalling ActiveSync. Eventually I managed to borrow a laptop with a new installation of XP and it wouldn't synchronise with that either. Also I managed to get another PDA device to connect to my PC. So today UPS picked it up to be returned to HP. They claim they can have it back in 5 days; we shall see.

I got the iPAQ back on Thursday afternoon; so HP were quite fast with the turnaround. It had a new motherboard fitted and was back at Windows Mobile 2003. I reinstalled Windows Mobile 2005 and the patch released by HP last week. I also disabled error reporting and the navpad. It seems to run OK now.

I did have to reregister Tom Tom navigator 5 again as it recognised the iPAQ as a different PDA.
