Trying to get TomTom 5 running on a friends Ipaq H2200 Using a bog standard 16 channel BT Bluetooth GPS Receiver.

I simply cant get the Ipaq with TT5 to get a sat fix.

I have paired the Ipaw with the GPS unit fine and showing in bluetooth manager as paired.

I go to tomtom and Show GPS Status - Configure - Other Bluetooth GPS - Then it says Pair the Bluetooth GPS with your PDA which I have done - Then I am offered the following ..... GPS IS CONNECTED TO -

COM 3
INFARED PORT
COM 6
SERIAL CABLE ON COM 1
SERIAL CABLE ON BT
SERIAL ON USB
BLUETOOTH SERIAL PORT
BLUETOOTH SERIAL PORT

I have tried all of the above and left for ten mins to try and get a sat fix but with no luck ?

I have done this before for myself without problems so i dont know whats going on ? ?

Any ideas ?

Cheers

Paul

Paul, when you go to the Bluetooth Manager on the Ipaq does the GPS icon show up with two small green arrows under it? - if not it needs connecting, tap and hold the icon and from the pop-up box select connect, then try again within the TomTom application - you need the outgoing Bluetooth port, to be sure of a connection to the device have a look at the yellow/ blue disk in the top right of the screen (Change Preferences/ Show GPS Status), if its spinning you have the correct connection.
Once the connection/ comunication is sorted take the whole lot outside, away from buildings and wait, it could take up to 30 mins to acquire the signal, but if the little yellow/ blue disk isn't spinning you won't get anything - Mike

I did everything you said to do but could i hell get the spinning disc thing to spin :-) I tried every available option...... BUT..........

I thought to hell with it ill try EVERYTHING even GPS Devices that are not Bluetooth..... these are the settings that i got everything to work with and I think they are a little crazy but hey it works.........

Other cable NMEA GPS
GPS Baud Rate 9600
COM 6

How can It be that Tomtom recognises the Bluetooth GPS Device as being Other Cable NMEA ? ? Wierd !

One more thing though.............

I notice that after a short space of time when i look in the Bluetooth manaer.... The bluetooth GPS unit is no longer connected .... kinda disconnects itself......Is there like somekind of inactivity timer hence it disconnecting itself ?
