I paid £180 for mine back in October and was a bit miffed when a friend of mine bought one a few months later for just £99.

Anyway, he is off to France in the summer so tried to download French maps onto his Garmin but totally messed up the UK maps in the process. He then returned the product and managed to get his money back.

Got me thinking so dug out the Argos receipt and yesterday also got a refund, result !

Never really used it but may upgrade to a tomtom due to the new range being bluetooth compatible so it would also double up as a phone hands free kit. The new range also has a better reception so would do away with the need for an aerial due to my windscreen.

Idea you had better read other posts regarding TomTom, what with drooping mounts, bluetooth phone problems (compatability and unable to hear or low audio)

You were lucky with Argos you may not be the next time, whatever you pay now in a few months will be less so be prepared for the same thing to happen again Exclamation

Hi to all.
Have to agree with you timber.
It is a fact that if you want the latest gadgets and gizmos you will always pay top dollar for it.
Finding out the price has dropped after you bought it is and always will happen, due to technological advances etc.
Me, I've given up worrying about that.
I just ask myself, do I want it now. If the answer is yes then I'll buy it anyway.

Gambler, trust me on this, I've been there done that with the TT910 and I ain't going back.
By the way the TTx10 range and the nuvi range both use the SirfStar III chipset (which is the latest) and it has to be said the performance is impressive.
Mine gets a fix within seconds of the boot up finishing and has never dropped the connection yet.

CeeJay.

..And you wonder why retailers sometimes seem reluctant to give refunds on so called faulty goods!!

Hi Lester_Burnham.

I would recommend the TT One for the missus, (my missus is using one and loves it, and all the software works properly :D ).
But I wouldn't touch the x10 range with a bargepole. Too many mount & software issues for a new unit IMO. Evil or Very Mad
The mount issue will not be resolved without a radical redesign, and TT are probably concentrating their efforts on their next range now, so I feel users of the x10's are going to be stuck with the same poor design.
That's one of the many reasons mine went back.
Meanwhile, back on topic Embarassed
The TT One with it's Sirfstar III chipset works admirably and the leads plug into the unit, not the mount.
You won't go too far wrong using one of these.

CeeJay.

all the same specs pretty mcuh, same sirf3 chipset and cos they're smaller and the software works straight out of the box!

not heard of any problems with the tom tom one's though. my dad-in-law has one and he copes alright with it.
