I'm sure that there are Nuvi owners out there who have idea's about the software.

Anyway I will start the Thread off with two enhancements I would like

1. More Via's (3 possibly) the current 1 is a bit frugal.
2. Easily switchable POI's

Right, let's see the idea's roll in, and perhaps somebody from Garmin will see this Thread and decide to implements some.

David

Nearly everyone uses a PC, the Satnav even links to a PC for downloads and POI add ons.
So give the nuvi a QWERTY keyboard layout for gods sake!!!!

i know lots of people with sat nav that don't have a pc - a qwerty layout would confuse them somewhat... maybe the option of switching from qwerty to abcdef

I want separate map view settings depending upon whether or not I'm currently routing (nav active) or if I do not have a destination set (nav inactive). I found that when I specifically using the Navigation to route somewhere, I like the 3D view. On other times (which is a lot, especially during commuting) I prefer to see the north up 2D view so I can see where I am positionally, but I'm not concerned with detailed street info.

So I want:

IF (navigation status = active)
use 3D view
ELSE
use 2D view

I think this could easily be accomplished with these changes to the menus:

MAP VIEW: (no changes, this is the current available setting for the map, and by default control BOTH nav and nav-inactive views)
- north up
- bearing up
- 3D

Nav inactive view: (new setting option)
- use MAP VIEW (default, this makes it operate just like it does currently for simplicity for less experienced users)
- north up
- bearing up
- 3D

I want more POI displayed on the map like while navigating/or in map view not POI add ons as most do not have complete information:

Underground/Train Stations
Schools/uni/college
Congestion zone
listing all the Parks on the map

Better speed camera detection - with the database add on it beeps even if the camera is on the otherside or on the cross road. some way of dealing with this like show only camera's on route like snooper indigo. would be a major improvement for me.

when traffic is selected, in the Info mode when you click on view map i want more options instead of just the 2D north up map i want 2D track up and 3D maps.

i want improved traffic info and icons in navigation mode/ and when the navi is off I want is to display traffic in map view mode as ive only seen the traffic sign twice and i live in plenty of traffic London and plenty of times got stuck in traffic on main road without a waring from nuvi.

I think thats all from me.

I know what you mean MaFt, but qwerty is so easy even for those who are not keyboard literate.

I'd like to see the same "Avoid roadblock" feature as on TomTom. I find it very useful when I hit a pile of slow/stationary traffic; you can just hit "Avoid Roadblock for 3 miles" and all is fine.

Also, - "Navigate to point on map" is very useful if you don't know the streetnames but know roughly where you're going.

Kenny.

Absolutely - an easy way of doing this like in Tomtom is the main thing that's tempting me to send my Nuvi back.

im sure you can do this i have the nuvi 310, and did this to go to st. albans in hertfordshire.

click on where to then browse map then select where you want to go (zoom in and out) then click go on the bottom right corner.

There's no easy way to get it to save that point though.

it'll be in your recent finds... then, when you get there you can save your location as a favourite?

Also, you can't say "where to" and put in an approx address (e.g. if you don't know the house no.), then look at map and pinpoint exactly where you want to go - only option from map then is "back". They should have put a "Go" on this map screen also.
