Go 300 external antenna

Have recently purchased a newish Peugeot 406 estate and my Go 300 now struggles to find a signal. Surprisingly this was'nt the case with my old 406. Decided that the best way to resolve this would be to buy the antenna and replacement cradle. However I'm not sure where I can best position the receiver in my large estate. I cant find out how long the cable is and therefore where I can locate the receiver although I would most likely fix it internally to one of the side windows. Alternatively can the reciever be located under the bonnet?
