Hello.

Out of the blue, the POI Loader started to crash when connecting to my i3. In other word, the programme just freezes and locks up on the PC as "not responding".

I have uninstalled the programme and dowlaoded again. I have done a System Restore running XP Pro. to a date when all was OK. I have hard reset my i3. I have rolled back from ver 3 to 2.7.

I am now stuck and cannot download any more! I know that the USB lead is OK because the i3 talks OK to EasyGPS.

I feel that the problem is software related, but would appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Terry in Sunderland

Are you connecting directly to a USB port? If you are going through a hub it can send POI Loader crazy.

Yes, directly to a standard USB port. I should also mention that POI loader also recognises my i3 and its serial number before crashing. Finished tearing my hair out for the night. Will start again in the morning.

I don't remember where the poi loader references or displays serial number? Maybe I'm talking rubbish?

Have you had it work before?

When the i3 is is connected to the usb port, the initial POI Loader welcome screen appears.
Click "next" and the "find device" screen appears. After a moment, my i3 is automatically selected as a Stree Pilot i3, follwed by the correct Unit id number in brackets.

The next screen is where the directory holding the files, express download mode etc selection occurs.

Click next, then the programe just freezes without performing the download and I have to shut it down. Triede it umpteen times but no go.

All was working well until a week ago and I had NOT made any chnanges. I have performed a hard reset of the i3. Rolled back from 3 to 2.7.

Un-installed POI loader, dowloaded and installed afresh.

The i3 still works fine (apart from the ocasional screen freeze, which I have got used to now)

Performed a System Restore to a dater when POI Loader was OK

Have you tried leaving it for a really long time to see if it sorts itself out?

I know when I put my POI's on it can take 5 minutes or more since I used Ash's program to alter the speed camera settings.

Is that a record!

Is the Garmin plugged directly to the pc into a USB2 compliant port?

plug your i3 in, but cancel poi loader when it kicks in, got control panel, system, hardware, device manager. Find your i3 under usd devices, right click on it and click uninstall. Restart XP, plug in your i3 and it should auto detect hardware and reinstall the drivers.

Thanks. I have now re-installed the drivers. No apparent difference. Still. I will not need to perform a download very often. I am satisfied that the system does work, providing I wait for half an hour to complete the download!

Still happy with my i3!!
