5.440 update not loading for my ttg300

Hi, I seem to be missing something or.... I have version 5.420 on my ttg300 and only noticed today the TOM TOM update for March. Having followed exactly the instructions to load 5.440 my TTG still shows version 5.420 . Any thoughts?

You haven't got the tom tom cd in the drive when your trying to upgrade have you?
This will stop the downloaded update being installed.

Hi, nope. I got through to TT support and the advisor said it should not be possible if I was doing everything ok. He talked me through the install and it still did not work. He could not beleive it. The we had to reformat my sd card (1gb) and install specific tt files and voila it worked. However when I loaded my other files after it it reset to version 5.420!!!! I want to keep the other files which are only the speed camera dbase stuff and poi file. I may just email ray to see if he is aware of this issue?

Have you loaded voice warnings for speed cameras.......?.......?....if so,are they not specific to a particular version?

Not sure what would happen if you upgrade to 5.44 if you previously loaded voices based on 5.42???????

yes, got voices but these are from Ray's website. Not sure either if the version can be affected. I have emailed Ray for some help on this. Still not sure if I really need the update!

That may explain it. You need the correct data.chk file for the version otherwise the machine goes haywire - as I found out when I got the wrong one on my TT700.
