i3 WAAS or GPS norm.

I've never tried this but wouldn't the 'Satellite View' got at via the 'Diagnostics' menu show when WAAS/EGNOS is in play. With the eTrex a 'D' shows for the particular satellites?

the i3 only seems to show info on 1 satellite in daignostics view...

how does one get into dianostic mode on the I3 then

Turn the i3 on by holding down both left and right buttons. This loads a screen which includes tests for ROM, RAM and ASIC. When these tests are 'passed', press the left button to load a second screen which, amongst others, includes the heading 'Vbattery'. Now press the left button then the right button then rotate the wheel button both up and down and finally press it. This results in a 'Press OK for diagnostics menu' message. Press the wheel button to display the diagnostics menu then scroll to highlight 'Satellite View' and press the wheel button. Voila!

Thought I hadn't RTFM properly, but can still find no reference to diagnostic mode.

What a lot of information's hiding in there! Pity I can't understand most of it 8O

For those of you wondering how EGNOS works, then I suggest clicking on the link in one of my previous posts in this thread, which will take you to the EGNOS website where they give a description of what the system is and how it works. To summarise - the correction data is transmitted by 3 EGNOS satellites (only one of which is over Europe), with EGNOS enabled receivers being able to receive these signals and use them appropriately. The data includes current positions of GPS and GLOSNAS satellites as well as the accuracy of their atomic clocks and how accurate the data coming from those individual satellites is.
If anyone has changed from NORMAL to WAAS/EGNOS you will notice that the unit reverts to looking for satellites again - this was my question about what happens if it loses the EGNOS signal.
I am still waiting for an answer from Garmin, but if they do manage to reply then I will post the answer under this thread.
