I have been using a Navman icn510 for just over a year now. I am quite happy with it but now I have a HP4700 PDA to replace the Dell Axim I lost and I don’t see the point of lugging around two units so I intend to get GPS working in the car on the 4700. I travel a lot so the less wires (i.e. bulk) the better, so I think a Bluetooth GPS unit would suit me best. I have also decided on Tom Tom Navigator 5 software.

What I can’t seem to find is a cradle suitable for my needs. The speaker on the HP4700 is not the loudest so I would want a cradle with a built in speaker. Also, I will use the unit on two cars regularly and in the occasional hire car. So I would need an adaptable cradle, one that has windscreen and vent mount options would give me more flexibility. Also I would like the option of being able to use the HP4700 in landscape mode if possible. Is there such a thing as a cradle that can do all this?

Oh, I intend to do this when I return to the UK in July; so there is no urgency for this at all.

I would sugest you take a look at the Brodit range of units, this one for example http://www.handnav-hosting.co.uk/product_details.php?id=197 you will need pro clips for the vehicles and possibly a suction mount, but it does power the 4700, it has a speaker and will tilt/ swivel - so I think it covers most of your "shopping list" - Mike

Unfortunately Brodit don’t appear to make a suction mount.

I have a 4700 and use it in the car with this mount http://www.handtec.co.uk/section.php?xSec=73&jssCart=fcf76769d547ad2f1e248d6a87403d87 from HANDTEC,it is complete with GPS reciever but it only has a sirfstar 2 chipset, but has the speaker and will power your 4700 as well, I have had mine for about a year witn no problems at all. It comes with a vent mount and windscreen suction device. I have mine mounted on a Brodit vent mount (found it more secure).

Thank you for all the advice. I have ordered a brodit speaker mount with a couple of proclips, a move kit and a suction mount.
