Help!

I've one of the new Fortuna clipon GPS devices and I've got it talking to a 3 com bluetooth USB key. I can see that the devices are paired and I've entered 0000 as the pairing key, all good, BUT when the memory-map software trys to interogate the GPS unit I'm presented with the following message:

"An application failed to connect to the remote device. The error may be due to one of the following reasons:
1) The device is out of range
2) The device is turned off
3) The device did not authroize the connection
4) The connection time limit was exceeded
"

There wasn't much documentation with with box and I've had a hunt around the 3com site/web but to no avail.

My com port configuration is as follows:

3Com Bluetooth Serial Client (COM3)
3Com Bluetooth Serial Client (COM4)
Communications Port (COM1)
Communications Port (COM2)

I've tried change the GPS settings in the memory map software to use COM3 (get the 'application failed to connect' message) COM4 - nothing happens. Also tried changing it from NMEA to SirF, no joy.

I've you've had a similar problem or have any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jamie

8) just got mine today aswell. I manage to get it working with my nokia tomtom software which only uses bluetooth connection so that was an easy one to try, but trying to use my garmin software from the pc using com port 3 showed errors "com port busy", am still working on a solution.

:D 3Com....oh dear.

I got this one sussed now, so for the benefit of others.

It seems that the 3Com USB adapter just isn't compatible. Got my hands on a DLink D-120 and it works without a problem. The driver software appears to be much better.

Ah yes, the infamous 3Com BT USB Adapter. I have the 3CREB96B and I've managed to get my 2210 iPAQ to connect about twice. Nice little dongle, doesn't do BT though! I have the one with the integral antenna (not movable)
