Personally i much prefered the earlier warnings so you had more time to adjust your speed and driving position. Too many times with 2.7 i was left in the wrong lane or didn't realise a turn was coming up.

I suppose it depends to some extent on the roads you use. I live in a rural area, and use a lot of lanes which I assume, as there's no speed limit, are treated as fast roads. I haven't been on a motorway yet - there's no such thing in East Sussex!

But I still think the advance warnings and the count-down on the display should enable you to get in the right position on the road before a turn.

I know I'm in the minority here (maybe because I'm a woman, and we tend to have different views on things like this?), so I'll leave the discussion now!
Out of here

I hope not! It's just opinions - no-one is right and no-one is wrong. As you stated "I suppose it depends to some extent on the roads you use." You live in a rural area and i live in the middle of suburbia, so what works for one person doesn't work for another. I hadn't thought of that.

Personally i am trying to use the display less and less so i can concentrate more on the road ahead than reading tiny on screen figures so the advanced audio warnings are an improvement to me.

Hi,

As you so rightly say Paul, a lot does depend on the type of roads we most comonly use... In 'country' or more rural areas there are often two (or sometimes more) road junctions or turnings quite close to one another, and I personally feel that I would be missing the intended route far more often without the benefit of the visual display. If I did exactly what I was told, when I was told I would be hearing 'Recalculating' much more frequently than I do now!

I still think that my i3 was one of the best £100's I have ever spent though!

You knew I couldn't keep away, didn't you Paul? Wink

I agree with you, Montala, both on the need to check the diplay for the correct turning on country roads, and that it was the best £100 (or in my case £130) ever spent.

I think I may have wronged v2.9 & 2.82. I took the same lane today and v2.7 also gave the final 'Turn left' instruction .2 miles before the turn. I think I'll stay with 2.7 though until a more stable new version is released.

I have just has this email from garmin after I reported faults with 2.9

Unfortunately we are having problems with version 2.90 of the software, we
advise using an older version for the time being to prevent problems on the
unit. We have alerted the US engineers to this problem and hope to have a
fix created as soon as possible.

i had a second email from garmin stating exactly the same.
atleast they are now acknowledging the faults.

taking bets now for either a long term beta or rushed proper update.

I only have COM 1 & COM 3 available on the GPS settings.
If I knew how to get the 'print screen' button to paste on to a 'reply' I would show you.

Also had the following reply from Garmin but thought I'd include the link for those that want to go back to 2.70 which seems to be Garmin's recommendation

Unfortunately there is a problem with 2.90 of the software. We have
contacted the US software engineers to get this fixed as soon as possible.

In the mean time here is a direct link to the 2.70 software which we recommend for you:
