Looking for guidance as a GPS virgin.

I have drawn a shortlist for a GSP solution, my needs are basic car routing but I do want to use some kind of speed (sorry safety) camera warning software.

I have considered the following:
Ipaq2210

SysOnChip CF Receiver (SURF thingy)
OR
BT Receiver from ALK

CoPilot Live 4.0
OR
TomTom

PDA Hardware, no brainer, however the rest is a conundrum.

The SysOnChip seems to be universally loved, my experience of simple BT technologhy has not been possitive (can't even get my Nokia headset to work beyond 6 inch's)

I won't use CoPilots live feature but the core features appear solid and there support seems good where as TomTom ignore everyone all the time.

Will I loose functionalty if I don't use CoPilots CF receiver.

I was going to buy a new Origin Bluei (234 quid at Costco) but don't want too many gadgets in my car at once, what speed camera add-on will work with Copilot.

So given the shortlist what would you buy.................... Question

You won't have any problem with Bluetooth technology with the Pocket PC and GPS in distance. It really depends what you want out of GPS. If it's solely for car use, then I would go with a cable GPS mouse.

If you want it outside the car, CF GPS will give you about 2-3 hours batteyr, Bluetooth will give you much more on the Pocket PC.

You won't lose any functionality going for something other than a CF card with CoPilot. If you want to be able to use any GPS Receiver in the future, then I would recommend going for the software only version of CoPilot. This will be unlocked to use with any GPS Receiver and will give you more scope.

We do have our own speed camera database integrated with CoPilot, but the version in there is a March or May release. Currently we are having problems ourselves updating this and are waiting for ALK to incorporate a better POI handling system into the next release of CoPilot so that we can update the cameras. If the Safety Camera Database is a major feature you need, then I would suggest at this time TomTom Navigator 2, but I do like CoPilot and it has some very neat features. In-fact I have been using it solid for the last 3 weeks in-car, and I do enjoy it.
