I've just downloaded the TTN5.2 update as I wish to install my legal copy of Tomtom on my HTC Wizard which is a WM5.0 device. However, when I run the exe, I get the option to repair or remove Windows Journal Viewer and nothing else?!

Just downloading the zip version now...

It could be one of the known problems with TomTom 5

On your desktop computer click start then run and type in %temp%. Look for a file in the directory called setup.exe and delete it. Then just run the tomtom update again.

Thanks, grabbed the zip which works fine.

tomtom won't let activate it on my Wizard though Sad

I love it when legal users can't use the software they've paid quite a bit of money for...

The branded versions of the HTC Wizard _are_ supported by TomTom, however (MDA Vario, iMate K-Jam, Qtek 9100, ad nauseam). These devices run differing ROM's dependent on their providers/brand, however.

Are you actually running a non-branded version of the HTC Wizard? I didn't know you could actually get one of those...

As to your problem, what exactly is your activation issue? And have you contacted TomTom CS? As long as you give them the pertinent technical info, they're pretty ok.

No, you are quite right - you don't get non-branded versions, mine is the O2 Mini S.

My activation issue is that I've apparently activated it twice (I only activated it once and it said it was the first time), it will only let me re-activate it for my Axim. I've contacted Tomtom, hopefully hear back from them soon.

You get another activation after 7 days of the first. Then you will get a new activation every 180days. Legally you can only have it running on one device at a time though Wink

That's what I don't understand, it shows me as having activated it twice but I didn't, and no-one could have activated it before me.

I only intend to use it on one device - I have to admit hte X50V was a mistake, it has beautiful hardware but the I find Pocket PC horrendous. I had originally hoped it could work almost in an ultralight role allowing me to do some browsing and check e-mail etc. However it's far too slow and unpredictable so in the end I picked up a Sony TX which does the job fine, leaving the X50V to just do sat nav. I was away for the weekend and it was daft needing the X50V and charger, plus the Mini S and its charger when the Mini S could in theory do the sat nav role.

Looks like I'll just need to wait for my 180 days to be up if Tomtom don't get back to me, I always buy my software (it irritates me when I'm told I should have just downloaded Tomtom!) but it's frustrating when it's the legal users that suffer - if I wanted to pirate the software I could just go and grab a crack and not have to worry about activation (which I won't be doing, just to be clear)

Tomtom have just got back to me with a new activation code which is working fine - I expected to have to wait for my 180 days to elapse but very plesaed to get such a quick response.

I'm glad to hear that you got everything sorted (and that tomtom are improving there CS).

Strange about the two activations though??
