I have not yet bought a SatNav so apologise for not having anything to contribute...but can anybody tell me approx the cost of a Quest mounting kit and headphone set (to fit R1) so I can make like-for-like cost comparison with the Tom Tom Rider? Thanks.

Hi and Welcome

RAM Mounts are about £25 but they don't come with power or sound. Garmin's bike mount cradle costs £50 with wiring included. You would still have to buy a headphone or autocom. I don't bother, just use batteries and do without sound.

The Quest comes with full Europe maps on CD so you can plan your trip on the PC and review where you have been. Quest1 needs maps loading for individual areas, it has 243 meg of memory and the entire UK is about 150 Meg. The Quest 2 has full europe maps preloaded, plus it does speed camera alerts (Quest 1 doesn't do cameras!).

TomTom rider doesn't come with full EU maps (UK only) but has a bigger touch screen. I don't think the TomTom rider comes with a car mount and you would have to buy one seperately if you want to use it in your car.

Have a look at this thread for a previous discussion/comparison.

Good luck!
