dell axim and wired garmin gps settings

i have recently purchased a dell axim for use with my garmin gpsmap76. the problem i am having is getting the settings correct on the axim to recognise the gps input. i have to specify a program port and a hardware port but without trying every combination i havent really got a clue what to choose.

can anyone point me in the right direction

it appears there is a known problem with tomtom. to get round it you need to change one of the entries in the registry. which i have done and it works

You did not say what Axim and what GPS you have.

But you should not have to mess with the registry to get any of the Axim working with Tom Tom (I do not know about WM5 though).
