hi guys , i just joined today, but have had a lok thru the forum posts, and this loks a good forum , where everybody helps each other out... no flamers ????

anyhow , i just bought a 2nd hand magellan gps300, and was wondering if anybody has hacked this to send and recieve to a pda or laptop??, the 315 can? so whats the difference??
also looking too... sumtime get a gps mouse for the ipaq (3630) and laptop and use some software for 3d gps sat nav
if any of this makes sense give us sum suggestions,

please note::
just new to this and will be a light gps user,so wanna stick to a cheaper budget than the big hardcore gps fanatics

Hi and welcome

The difference as you have realised is data out, the 315 has it, the 300 does not Whilst it may be possible to hack it I can't find anyone who has tried or succeeeded and frankly it's not really worth bothering when a cheap secondhand GPS with data out can be had on eBay for £60 or thereabouts.

However the 300 is a great GPS, if you have no need of data out then it'll do most of what you need in a hiking/outdoor activities GPS
