backlight switch off utility

I would like to be able to turn off my backlight at will without stopping my MemoryMap prog running while I am out walking, to conserve energy. Anyone know a prog that will allow me to do this please?.

Just set the back light to switch off after 30 seconds then you only need to touch the screen to put it on again.

Is that what you want to do ?

The best way I found to do this is to disable the front button (asign them to 'none') and use a small program called screenoff.

Asign 'screenoff' to the record button (the one below the power button) then when running MM press the 'record' button & the backlight AND screen will go off leaving MM running & tracking etc. A brief press on the power button will 'wake' up the pda returning you to MM. It also has the bonus of extending battery life (upto 25% for me).

Works with all programs EXCEPT TTN5, if you use it then a soft reset is required to reboot a crashed pda.

Works with a Mio168 but should work with all pdas with the same OS.

can also give you a link to a battery extender that works with Mio168 (other pdas as well with suitable connector avalible for them). Requires 4 AA batteries (Hi Capacity).
