Has anyone installed the TomTom ONE in a Ford Mondeo Mk2, to the right of the central vent http://helloscoobydoo0.tripod.com/TomTomONE_in_Mondeo.JPG ?

The supplied clip fits in there nicely and just requires the TT ONE to slide in/out with ease but I just need someway of attaching the clip to the dash - any ideas or has someone done this already?

Thanks

Hi ScoobyDooLondon,

Have you looked at a Brodit solution? Fit a Brodit ProClip to your dashboard and a Brodit holder for the ONE and you have a very neat finish that will look OEM.

Have a look in this thread too.

652861 ProClip (Ford Mondeo 2001-2006)

602986 ProClip (Ford Mondeo 2001-2006)

What's the model year of your Mondeo?

Regards,

I'd love to have a Brodit clip in my Fiesta (04model). But the only fixing they do is down to the far bottom left of the dashboard, far too far away and you've have to take your eyes off the road for ages, not to mention not being able to reach it Sad

Unfortunately that’s the problem with the modern vehicles, they all have dashboards that are far too curved, that give little opportunity for Brodit to create a range of ProClips for them.

653055 ProClip (Ford Fiesta 2002-2005 For UK)

At least if you used the above ProClip, you wouldn’t be advertising that you had SatNav in your vehicle. I agree that it is a little low down and that ProClip is probably more suited to fixing a mobile phone holder to.

Regards,

That's too far away to see. They have solved the problem in the 2006 Fiesta, alas I don't have a 2006 Fiesta.

I currently use a vent mounted holder, but that's prone to falling off due to the nature of the vents.

When I suggested that it would probably be more suited to fixing a mobile phone holder to, I meant just for using it for phone calls as I didn’t read (from your signature) that you were running TomTom Mobile 5 on a Nokia 3230. Embarassed

I've got mine mounted in a similar position in my Nissan Primera using the Brodit system and don't understand what you mean by 'it's too far away to see'. In my opinion it's in a great position, the mount isn't obvious when the car is parked and the display doesn't distract by being in front of you when driving normally and the wiring is easier to hide as it's nearer the lighter socket. Since the occasional glance is all you normally need when negotiating junctions (as the audio instructions are usually pretty clear) I don't really find it a problem. If I used the windscreen mount I'd find it much more of a distraction.

Frazz.

I have a Mk2 Mondeo, 1998 Verona.

I've seen the Brodit setup but find it very ugly and cumbersome, and also blocks the vents. I want to take advantage of the space available in the 'spare vent' and don't wish to see too much protruding out from there, something that the Brodit does.

I have a 1995 Land Rover Discovery with Brodit ProClips on either side of the radio. The ProClips go over the vents but I don’t find it a problem. However each vehicle is different and it may be a problem for your Mondeo.

There are three Brodit ProClips for your Mondeo:

652348 ProClip Ford Mondeo 1997-2000 For all countries

632349 ProClip Ford Mondeo 1997-2000 For all countries

652420 ProClip Ford Mondeo 1997-1999 For UK
