I was going to go for a hp ipaq rz1710 but I've read that it's underpowered for tt5. So whats the cheapest one that will run tt5 well? Has to be pocket pc so that rules out the palm tungstens.
cheers,

Even some older/slower PPC can run TT5 adequately.
So I should think 1710 is OK, as far as running TT5 is concerned. _________________ Pc-Mobile

tt produce a "hp edition" of tt5 for it, i don't know whether this is cut down version of tt5 or if you can just use a standard version. The stuff i read about it being underpowered was with the via michalin bundle where users run out of memory. |

Mio 168 is a bit old but it is still good and quite reliable.
I would also recommend it, particularly for such price. _________________ Pc-Mobile

yes i've seen them, they're not locked into any software are they? Also from my experiment with installing tt5 onto a friends pda it didn't have an option of sirfstar 3 wired gps, only nmea. Does this mean that if i buy a fancy wired gps unit it will only work in nmea mode with tt5? I know the tt one uses sirf 3 so that version must somehow support it.

I think you are confusing the SiRF III chipset with the sirf mode for data transfer, TT5 will work with a SIRF III chipset equiped GPS unit, but only when it transfers its data using the NMEA protocol. One other option for you to consider is the PDA based phones for a cheap PDA, admittedly not everyones cup of tea as they are large for a phone - But you can use them for internet access from anywhere (incl the pub like this) - Mike |

Hi
I have a hp rz1710 running tt5, it came with hp tomtom edition which appears to be a cut down version so i put tt5 version 5.21 on it and it works well, before this i had a mio 168 which when it worked it worked well but was a bit temprimental but if you can find a mio for £129 that sounds an excellent price but they come with copilot i think, but you can put tt5 on them |

I bought a used IPAQ 1910 for £70 on eBay last year & TT%.1 works fine on it. I'm using it with a cradle that has an infra red connector and trhat has the bonus of an amplified speaker. |

The problem with that is that the copy of TT you bought on ebay is almost certainly an illegal copy at that price. _________________ Peter
