This forum has a lot of useful information and thanks for that. I am looking at buying a PDA with GPS receiver. The Mio A201 is a likely candidate from looking at the advice given here.

However, I have seen in the magazine PDAEssentials that a couple of new PDAs have been launched recently. They are Asus A632 and A636. On paper they look very with a good-long battery life, (A636 has wifi built in), fast Intel processor, latest o/s, latest Sirf 111 chip etc.

Does anyone have any information on these about reliability, compatibilty with mapping software etc?

Thanks
Chris

I am watching this thread with bated breath as I seem to be in a similar position to yourself. I was considering the A201 as I had the previous model 168 (which I smashed!) but also found the A636 which looks very interesting.
The couple of reviews I have found seem to suggest the A636 is a respectable device at least the equal of the A201 with the bonus of Wifi built in.
The A201 seems to be a lot easier to get hold of however.

Anybody with an Asus A636 got any comments?
This is really the device I fancy the most but the price of the Mio A201 is a bit more attractive.

I bought an ASUS A636 with Copilot live v6, 2 weeks ago.
Great little unit, bluetooth, 802.11b, usb.
Comes with car cradle, car power supply, mains power charger... nothing more to spend.
The satnav prog is very quick and the Sirf III Ant. never misses a beat!

I'm new to car GPS, and PDAs and I'm not a push-over, I'd recommend the buy. PDAs still seem a bit limited yet, but very handy.
Dedicated Satnav units are the same price, the A636 is much more flexible....

So far no lockups, or hickups, only minor Copilot software config problems that will be fixed when they release a patch. There are work around available.

I found some useful info about the asus 636 on an italian forum. Came up in a google search which i translated. Seems that the first batch had a problem that is now fixed. TomTom 5 is compatible but you will need to read the forums(after getting google to translate)
The forum is
