Have just installed CheckPOInt on my iPAQ 4700 running TTN5. Have been using the inbuilt POI warning facility within TTN5 for sometime now with the GPSWorld speedcam, database. But I often use TTN5 with the voice navigation commands turned off, which means I don't get the speedcam warnings either. So thought I would try CheckPOInt. But I don't seem to get any warnings with that. I have set up all the necessary parameters/overlay settings.

Does it need me to download the CheckPOInt speedcam data or should it work with the POcketGPSWorld speedcam database?

Chris

This isn't the answer to you problem but it does give you an alternative way of achieving the same thing just using TomTom.
First go to Rays site http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/voiceskins.html on this page select to download the ""Silent Voice", un zip it then load onto the PDA, select this (I think is special 32, but I can't check this as I have lost all the special voice file names on the PDA, this being due to having 30 voice warnings for cameras etc in the normal TomTom, small price to pay) - Mike

If you take a look here, there is a 'silent voice' which will give warning sounds, but no navigational sounds.

Thanks for that Mike and Richard. I have dowloaded the "silent voice" and it does exactly what I was trying to acheive. Think I'll leave CheckPOInt on my PDA for the time being while I play around with it and see if I can get it working. I hate to be beaten.

Hi Chris, I used to use checkpoint with ttn 3 and it worked spendidly. Unfortunately I've never been able to get it to work with ttn 5. I particularly like the time to target as opposed to the distance reference tt uses as this varies the warning times dependant on speed. Hopefully it will get sorted at some point. Hint hint...

If you take the trouble to load up the speed zoned section of the database and set it up correctly with the distance relative to the speed of the actual camera then it works very well, if you want a second warning load the single file version as well and assign a different warning distance to it, its worth it in the long run once configured how you want its great - Mike
