I have the Medion version, bought it October 2004, Mobile Navigator 4.2. Have never had any reason for complaint, has taken me all over Europe with no real issues. Some times has difficulty in very built up areas, but I put this down to the narrow streets and high buildings frequently found in some european cities. All in all very good machine.

For the money it has got to be one of, if not the best all in one PDA.

I have use it now for 8 months or so & it is great for driving with TT5 or riding/walking using Memory map's or surfing the net & getting your emails when in a wifi area or at home on your network (You need a wifi card for this).

Sure I would like the new Mio 201 but this one does the job for me no problems.

Have fun with it :D

Yep, I have the Mio 168 with Mio Map2 and its excellent.

Also easy to add safety camera database using POI Warner.

Another bonus is its size, easy to place in car just using a single piece of velcro and do away with all those car mounting kits so loved by thieves.

Highly recommended !!

Yes 2, one a Medion 95000 (re-branded Mio168) and because I was so impressed with it I bought the company, only joking, but I did buy a Mio168 as well. See my web site by clicking the link at the bottom of this post.

While your here - PocketGPS I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your site, I tend to visit it regularly to check for updates etc. Good site, with plenty of information and clear and easy instructions. I would still be using a map if I had not found your site.

Thanks again

The poi files will work with TomTom, but to use with Navigon 5 you would need to install POI-Warner at a cost of approx €30

The .wav files would need CheckPOInt 5 installing for TomTom (but TomTom would need updating to v5.1), and Navigon 5 would be as above.

Hello people new to the forum great site.
Since you have been posting very useful info about mio 168 I would like to ask if there is anything to be done in order to correct the altimeter readings. I am right next to the sea and i get 20 meters altimeter.

Any suggestions?

I have a MIO168 and am very happy with it. As a self-contained unit for a first time user, it is I believe excelent.

However, there are a couple of negatives:

The connector is a little on the fragile side - so if you do get one, remember that it is just as important to press the release buttons when inserting the cable as it is when removing it.

It runs Windows mobile 2003 first edition, which has a particular problem (fixed in the second edition) but can be 'fixed' - see 'clearnotify' on http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html (there may be other solutions)
