Hi all,
been having a few long first fixes with my GPSSlim236.
It's been updated to the latest firmware (3.11) bust will just sit
showing 6-7 full sat signals but won't get a fix.
I have to force a cold start from my pocket pc.
Anyone else having this issue?
Is there a more up to date firmware ?

Thanks for any response,

regards,

Kerwin,

Sorry to disappoint, but my 236 is a TTFF gazelle compared with my old Tomtom MkI - I have had no issues with it at all, thankfully.

Hope yours sorts itself out... Smile

The 236 takes 45 seconds if stationary with a good view of the sky. If you move it (especially at slow speed like walking) then it is slow to fix - if ever!

You can abuse the hell out of it (in shirt pocket/glovebox in car etc.) once locked on but treat it like an old school device for that 1st 45 seconds.

Hi,
Sounds like you have the same issue as a few others that have been discussing this in another posting.

Holux Technology are investigating the problem of gaining a fix at low speeds. Hopefully I will be able to offer a solution shortly.

With regards it taking 45 seconds to gain a lock in a stationary situation, this may be because of the environment you have the receiver postioned in. In a warm start situation the receiver may take up to 5 minutes to gain a lock but is more likely to be under 1 minute.

Please feel free to call tech support if you would like to discuss your problem.
Regards,
Julie

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone at Holux and everyone on the forum :-)

Thanks for the update Julie, Can you let me know when you have a fix for the sloww ttff problem, which I presume will be a firmware update.

best regards,

Kerwin.

Hi,
We've spoken with SiRF this morning and will be getting a unit over to them for their investigation.
I'll let you know what their response is.
Cheers
Julie

I've had my slim236 for about 18 hours now and went out into town to see how it performed. When I walked into a shop it lost the satelittes and didn't get a fix again for about an hour afterwards. GPS viewer was display 7 satellites with plenty of signal, I was in a square with open sky but it still wouldn't fix. Basically the same problem as what others have posted about here.

I eventually removed the battery and then stood still for 5 minutes until it fixed. This must be a issue with Holux rather than the SIRFIII as I've not read similar reports on the globalsat forums.

Any new of when a fix for this will be released? My s/n is 236-54302439
