I seem to be struggling here... nothing new there then! I can't extract the ttn file from ttsystem. Error message reads 'will try for 30 secs to get the ttn file,' then , ' oops maybe you need to do it the other way, later'
Anybody any ideas.... I'm lost here.

Exract all the files in extractttn.zip into a folder on your pc, you should have -
bsdtar.exe
dd.exe
extract_ttn.exe
archive1.dll
bzip2.dll
libiconv2.dll
libintl3.dll
zlib1.dll
GNU Licence.txt
readme.txt

Copy ttsystem from your ttgo into the same folder and run extract_ttn.exe
I've never had a problem extracting ttn from ttsystem.
Try downloading the file again, maybe got corrupt during download?

If you are still stuck email me your ttsystem and I'll see what results I get with it.

I've updated my real voice ( Andy, Liz & Vicki ) warning prompts for the new versions of TTGO V5.42 and PPC V5.21.

There is also an updated version of the POIW Extend program for the TTGO V5.42. Another update for the PPC V5.21 is next on the list.

POIW Extend program has now being updated for PPC V5.21

Many thanks to Rayflan for the help with ttsystem. I think it may be a Win98SE problem. Tomtom is not overkeen on this OS.
Anyway all is well and I have a full set of speed trap.....I mean safety camera warnings..
A merry Christmas one and all and may all your presents be baby tomtoms!

PostPosted: Sat Dec 24, 2005 6:50 pm    Post subject: Where to put voice files Reply with quote

Hello everyone and apologies in advance for this question… I am new to this GPS stuff....

I have a TTG 700 with the very latest software version 5.420 and latest maps.

I have successfully loaded the GATSO poi's from PocketGPSworld web site and loaded them on to the TTG…and they work fine.

So my next step now is to change silly beep noises for the spoken "GATSO 30" warnings etc.

I have downloaded the "Beep_2_gatso_thirty.wav22.ogg " files for all the different speeds…and they are on my PC. I have also downloaded the correct chk file for my software version…i.e. " 5643_new.data.chk"

I have made a backup copy the TTG hard disk onto my PC incase anything goes wrong.

Before I take the plunge and swap files from PC to TTG I need to know where to place them on the TTG hard drive.

I have read the instructions on the PocketGPSworld web site and read through the 42 pages on this forum but am still a little confused

1. Am I right in thinking I need to rename the chk file on my PC and replace it with the one on the TTG ?

2. Where do I put the new OGG voice files on the TTG ? In the TTG the folder marked VOICES it only holds 'data **.chk' and 'data**.vif files'. There are no OGG files….this is the bit that confused me.

Thank you in advance for your help

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Jeff

you cannot exchange individual OGG files on the device. They are encoded into the data.chk file.

Replace the data.chk on your GO 700 with the one you downloaded (rename the downloaded file to data.chk first)

Lutz

I am still none the wiser.

So I change the CHK file over for the new one, is this all I do...does this contain all I need ( voice fiels etc) ?

What do I do with the ogg files ?

Thanks

Jeff

The ogg files are each individual warning and these are encoded into a data.chk file.

TT will only 'play' the sounds that are in the chk file. It doesn't have the ability to play native ogg files.

You only need the ogg files if you are going to create your own custom data.chk file. The instructions are detailed on Ray's Site http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/

Yet another useful work around, can any confirm which files store the POI Warning settings, I'd like to take a copy so that I do not have to reconfigure all the POI Warning settings in the future

Hope this is understandable?

That would be the cfg file in the map folder.

If you do a software upgrade, this will not work as the data.chk is different each time and has to be re-worked.

there seem to be so many threads on this topic its mind boggling.
my question is this,
i have a tt1, have loaded the speed cam poi and the voices, but the warnings dont correspond to the actual speed limit.
there are a couplde of cameras near where i live and tested the software and when i came upto the speed cameras, it told me "gatso 60" on both cameras when i was actually on a 50 mph road.
so i have replaced back to beeps because i felt i cant risk penalty point and fines if i am sticking to the speed limit i am being told by the tt1.
sorry if this has been asked but i have read through this thread, done searches but nothing 100%

What did the display / poi icon show ?
If the icon showed 60mph and the warning was 60mph then the database has the wrong speed for that camera - you can report it to PGPS
If the icon showed 50mph and the warning was 60mph you have setup the wrong warning sound for the 50mph camera poi.
