|
|
Does the 'Alternative Mount Plate' described here allow you to hook the TT1 onto the air grill as it appears in the photo?
Assuming it's easy to put on and take off, I'd prefer this to having to use the suction mount thing (less hassle, no telltale suction cup mark, less bulky).
If the answer's yes, the next question is where can I buy one (apart from online)? |

It looks like an adaptor to convert a third party mount so that it can hold the Tomtom. If you can find a vent mount then you can use this adaptor. |

Thanks. The obvious next question is can anyone recommend a suitable vent mount that would work with this adapter?
Or, of course, can anyone recommend a complete thrid part vent mount for a TT1? |

Buy a Brodit Mount - specific to your car. They are superb in quality and fit exactly
Have a look at www.handnav.co.uk |

That needs to be used with the Nokia 'Alternative Mount Plate', is that right?
Just looked on the website and the Brodit mount for my car appears to not use the vent but is attached low down near the passenger - not great for a GPS. I'll call them and check. |

...there should be a few options for every car - there are both console and vent mounts for my car (BMW 5 Series)
The vent mounts are very stable |

Called handnav and spoke to someone there.
According to them, there are no Brodit options for the TomTom One yet but will be early in the new year.
Dissapointingly, the clip I found on handnav's site (which may have worked with the TomTom plate) wouldn't be too good for a GPS as it attaches down in the passnger foot well on my car (Hyundai Coupe).
Looks like I'll have to wait unless anyone can suggest something else. |

That is so not true.
I just bought a pro clip and the TOMTOM Go mount (215027) It is a perfect fit for the TomTom One holder. The windscreen part of the mount used in the One is the same as the one used for the Go. Therefore, a mount that takes a Go holder will also take a One holder... if that makes sense.
You can see it here:

That makes sense but the Brodit holder for my car fixes down low near the passenger footwell not high up on the dashboard. So, I'll have to wait to see what they come with specifically for the TT1 - maybe it'll fit my car better. |

TomTom also offers the Alternative Mount Kit
http://www.tomtom.com/products/accessory.php?ID=92&Product=143&Category=&Context=1&Language=1&Tab=2
Also includes that mount plate. The vent clip is easy to attach, but it doesn't come off very easy (if you want to remove it each time you leave your car) _________________ GO1005
