|
|
Is anyone aware of a compatible USB charger for the CoPilot Bluetooth GPS? It appears to take a 5 Volt input, which should be perfect for USB charging. I'd love to charge from my laptop when on the road without a rental car.
Thanks,

If you are correct in your assumption that the USB output is suitable for an input - it might be possible to knock one up yourself from a shortened USB lead (salvaged from a broken gamepad for example) and a plug from somewhere like Maplins (in UK) I am sure that a USB wiring diagram is on the internet somewhere. |

The Fortuna Clip-On bluetooth gps receiver comes with a USB charger, and the output voltage is 5v. Whether they are sold separately, I don't know. |

Further to my post above, I noticed that Expansys do a number of these USB power leads. They are intended to charge PDAs but many bluetooth GPS receivers take the same connectors and are at the same voltage. |

Does anyone have a PDA that uses the same size of plug as the Bluetooth GPS that comes with CoPilot 6?
Its easier to search at Ebay for a USB lead to charge the GPS battery if I can search for a model number of something else that will fit it, rather than having to guess the size of plug from a blurry picture. |

I have an Ipaq Hx4700 and I've been using the charging cable that plugs into the back of my cradle to charge my CoPilot GPS. The plug is the exact same size and I've been doing this for over a year without any problems. I peiodically remove the cable from the cradle and "top off" my GPS at my desk before a trip. |

I tried and failed to buy a USB lead to charge my CoPilot Bluetooth GPS. However, I had an old USB charging lead for a mobile phone. I also got an extra lead in the box when I bought CoPilot which had two plugs to fit the GPS and one socket to fit the same plug. Anyway, I cut the plug off both leads. Both had one red and one white cable and these had to be connected red-red & white-white to get the correct polarity. It seems to work. The charging light goes on and there haven't been any explosions ... yet.
I don't really understand why ALK don't sell this sort of thing as an accessory. Including one in the box would be even better, and the sort of thing that builds goodwill. |
