Just downloaded the latest database & found in the speen related ov2s the VAR file. I take it that this is for variable speed cameras i.e. 20 during rush hour (if you can go that fast ) 30 between 07:00 to 19:00 hrs 70 (in town at night! I wish :D ) all other times, sort of thing. Am I correct? _________________ If riding in a plane is flying then riding in a boat is swimming. If you want to experience the feeling

Had never heard of the variable speed cameras before, my example was just to ask did a different limit apply at different times of the day. _________________ If riding in a plane is flying then riding in a boat is swimming. If you want to experience the feeling

On M25 stretch between M3 and M4 (not sure with present road works) limit varies with traffic speed and congestion. Can be any time of day. And every other overhead has cameras - most don't have film in but never sure which do! Really annoying when things get put on accidently. Once had to slow down to 40 for a 2 mile stretch of clear motorway at midnight GRRRRRRRRRRR |

Lucky you!
The M25 cameras are linked to the variable speed limits that come into force at busy periods. Here's a couple of pictures fromukspeedtraps.co.uk

Thanks for the info.
I thought it was speed cameras near schools etc. to limit speed when trafic was heavy & lots of pestrians (sorry I mean pedestrians ) about. Never gave a thought about Britaind only multi-lane circular car park .
No doubt they will spread & work their way 'up north'. _________________ If riding in a plane is flying then riding in a boat is swimming. If you want to experience the feeling

The difference with the M42 ones is that they're all digital, always on when a variable limit is in force and meaure your speed between gantries.
They went live between junctions 3A and 7 on Monday 28 November.
There are over 150 cameras deployed on this stretch for variable speed limit enforcement, queue detection and journey time measurement.
Take a look at this site http://www.highways.gov.uk/knowledge/tcc/atm/index.htm
I'm a reformed character. This technology is unbeatable. |
