I tried updating the i3 software to version 2.7 using the uploader. The update failed and now the unit will not turn on. I have tried resetting by removing the batteries but no luck. Any advice on fixing this? I have sent an email to Garmin but am waiting for a reply. |

Try re-installing the firmware manually.
If that doesn't work you should probably take the unit back to where you bought it from and get a replacement.
There is nothing underhand in doing that (re other threads in this forum). In this instance Garmin make the updates available for end user download/installation and you were following their instructions.
There should be no question of having to fork out to sort the problem out. |

Mine did this too. Ended up returning it and getting a refund. Got £199.99 back then went to another store and got one for £166 so wasn't all bad.
I think there's a warning on the updater page that there is some risk to the unit whilst updating and if problems occur unit should be returned to Garmin - which isn't ideal. Prob best to take it back to shop. I think when updating/uploading it's reccomended to close down all other programs to be on the safe side. |

I finally contacted Garmin and they told me to send the unit to them for repair. Since I bought it only 3 weeks ago from Amazon, Garmin is paying for the shipping (DHL). I'm a little ticked that I have not been able to use the unit but at least I'm not incurring more expense. |
