Am I right in assuming that if I want to upgrade to 5.420, I can do this without having to revert back to 5.201?

I understand that ScaredyCats upgrades will not function under 5.420 but at present I'm more keen to have 40 (or is it 39) POIs.

Yes you can upgrade to 5.420 from 5.202. I tried it and it worked for me. If you leave the tomtom.mnu file and all SC's extra files in place, you will get the same menu structure that you have now, but the App Icons won't work.

I reverted to 5.202 because I use the Quickam app a lot.

No - the phone is still not played over the speakers. They are muted only.

I have finally loaded new upgrade, but I had to remove Pocket GPS cameras and the data.chk file to get it on. Cameras and new data.chk file reloaded and all works fine. AN ADDED BONUS IS THAT MY SE 750i NOW WORKS ON VOICE

Having got the upgrade finally on my 700 and I have reinstalled the camera database and the new data check file, Iam curious how to use all the warnings in the data.chk file. I just identify each camera for what it is and not the speed associated with it, but it does mean that other POI's can only be identified as a Gatso, Specs etc. Its strange calling a Castel Gatso 30. Is it not possible for Pocket GPS to leave a couple of "Bells" and "Bongs" in their data.chk file for use with other POI's. Or have I got it all wrong !!!

Have a look at www.tomtomsatnav.info to see if Ray has worked a new data.chk yet.

Hi,

New TTG user here......

If I upgrade to 5.420 is it then possible to revert to the previous version by restoring the backup I have made of the SD card?

I'll try not to ask any more stupid questions, honest. :D

welcome to the forums...

not a stupid question at all - you need to format the storage card before restoring the original/saved contents. This will guarantee that no remainders keep lurking around.

Is this true for formatting the hard drive of the Go700 to return to the previous firmware versions? Just want to make sure I have a contingency plan as well.
TIA.

If you have a Full Backup it is only necessary to copy the Files in the Root of the SD card.

Delete the files of V5.42 in the Root, there's 16 or so depending what ever you've added, and just Copy/Paste the similar files from the Backup.

All the Folders stay as they are.

Contrary to my earlier post, after updating to 5.420 my TomTom 500 + Permanent Docking kit NO LONGER mute the speakers whilst my mobile phone (Nokia 6680) is being used. This therefore is a step back from the previous system software. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, it is truly amazing they managed to get this wrong.

these versions are always language agnostic. In other words - yes, you can use it in the US.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that. I just know it wasn't up on the US site, and thought maybe there was a reason for this. Glad to know it's generally applicable. Thanks.

I was running a ttg 500 with 5.201, latest speed cameras and custom sounds. i then did the upgrade and it would get to the splash screen, change to night colours(this is as i had it set on night colours before the update) and freeze. i have just reverted back to the orginal setup and it works fine.

please help

Ian
