Almahadeus..you don't happen to know anything about extending the alerts on Tom Tom mobile would you?? I really want the beeps for other POI's aswell..

Apologies Sarah but I am afraid I don't know about the TomTom mobile. Why don't you try and contact RAY through his website at:
http://www.rayflanagan.co.uk/poiew.html
I also tried to google this but couldn't find much. I'll let you know if I get anything useful.

Hi,
your link goes to poi warning voices designed to replace bells whistles and moos, mine goes to voices to give directions to replace jane and others.
they sound much more human than the default ones on the go.
Make a folder on the root directory of your Tomtom go and call it voices if there is one already there just use that. From memory I unzipped the files straight to the folder on my go but you could unzip to a temp folder on your pc than drag and drop or paste and copy to your go voice folder.
If you want to be really posh you can use the same poi and direction voice for seamless instructions and warnings
Please let me know what you think

Andy Siddell's voice skin is great NEARLYLOST. Thanks again for the great find. I am also using his voice for the camera warnings and it is pretty clear and loud which I like. Now that I've let you know what I think, have you got anything else up your sleeve? Laughing Laughing Laughing

Forgot to mention Spashscreens
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=27219
Download a picture you like edit it in your photo software to include your name and phone number, repace the splash.bmp inyour go and you have a personilised go which is harder for a robber to pass on.
If u r a real crawler like me use a picture of the wife
Regards
Ken

Hi, once you have the data.check file on your computer u r nearly there.
Connect your go to the computer and open the files. find the data.check file on the go and rename it olddata.check. Copy the data.check file onto your go and Robert is your mam's brother.
There is no need to open the data.check file on your computer.
dont forget to assign the correct sound to your poi

I think it refers to the nested folders being too many, or the String Length of the Folder Structure.

Like C:\abc\def\ghi\jkl\mno\pqr\gobbledegook.

The PC has to store it, in a buffer, as a String and there is not enough room. This happens if you have long names for Files and/or Folders (a throw back

to the old days of 8.3 file names) although I've never seen that actual error message.

I've just found this thread and tried to scan it all but it's very long and I apologise if I've missed an answer to this question:

I'd like a set of alert sounds that are nice and loud (I see that's been a problem in the past) and that includes both some straightforward generic 'boings' and 'bells' and 'ding dongs' etc., as well as some safety camera warnings: I'm not too worried about details of what sort of camera (Gatso, specs, etc.), but a set including a simple "Speed Camera" warning, and some speed-specific ones ("Speed Camera 30", "Speed Camera 40", "Speed Camera 60" etc.) would be great.

PalmoOS device
App version 5.120 (5200)

Thanks for any help,

Nick Goldman

Hi, just look at Ray's website mentioned in the last couple of pages of this thread. What you need is to run through his POI extender and save/load whichever alerts you need. you can also try his real voices warnings whic I feel are more than great. Hope this helps.

I've looked there, but it doesn't mention having been tested with the version of TTN I am running (5.12). It seems to be aimed at PC versions too; it says to download TomTom Navigator.exe but I don't have that file on my Palm OS version of TTN.

As what I wanted was pretty simple, I was sort of hoping someone could just point me towards an existing data.chk that would do it, rather then me having to go to the trouble of learning to make my own... (guilty look).
