Hi all
I am just trying to download "extras" to my Tomtom 700, using my free months trial, and getting no where. Following the instructions,
after, pressing download extras, entering my email and password, it just keeps saying "Could not connect to server. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong. My phone is connected and paired to Tomtom.
IS IT ME!!!! |

While I understand your frustration, asking to share premium content from TT website is not a good idea. |

It won't work anyway - the file you receive is related to your device ID.
It will only work on the TT it was intended for.
Stick with it and you'll get it sorted. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks Chris.
I went through the registering procedure on Saturday for the free trial month of plus. All went as instructed. I tried activated traffic update for a trip out on Sunday( no knowing what to expect , i don't think it worked. Tried on Tuesday to access plus services, followed instructions, entering e-mail and password but when Tomtom 700 tried to connect it just says Could not connect to server.
The phone is connected and works with my blue tooth. I have emails Tomtom but i think it might be Christmas before i get a reply. ( still waiting for one from 5 weeks ago. (waste of time) . It is probably something i have done wrong IE Internet or wireless settings, but don't know how to get into them to make changes. I don't find technology easy so get stumped quite often.
PS My phone broke on Monday so it was replaced with same modle Motorola V600. Blue tooth works ok.

I had a similar problem with my TT500 and a SonyEricsson K700i. The phone paired with the TT500 without problems but logging on to TomTom's services didn't work.
I contacted O2 (my provider) and they set up my phone with some new settings for the GPRS.
I then went to TomTom.com and reset my device. There is an option to do this from your account.
This solved all my issues and it has worked ever since.
Hope you solve your problems.

Hi Mads
I contacted Orange and they say all my Wap services are activated and working. They are not allowed to give ANY advice on Tomtom's at all and can only advise i contact them.
No joy there then.
thanks anyway. |

could it be that WAP is not good enough, that you need 'full' GPRS? Not sure though. |

using the word could be confusing things - The TT uses GPRS and cannot use WAP (My understanding of WAP is GSM Dialup).
I'd just make sure that your GPRS is working.
Also you mentioned that you have activated your trial and put in the Email address etc on the TT.
If you logon to the TT website and go to the "Plus Services" tab do you have any green icons against Traffic, POI and Voices (you mentioned you'd tried to but this)?? _________________ Thanks,

Hi Nich,
It sounds like none of your services have been activated. If they are activated there should be a green dot next to your traffic and POI services (for the trial there will probably be more than one)
Just check you have activated the trial on your account.
If you click on the "activate my trial" link below the plus services it will give you the instructions to do this.
Let me know if this works. _________________ Thanks,

OK....
Have you registered your device? (top of "my account" on the right hand side - you need to select your device and enter the product code that came in the box. If you don't add your device to the account you can't activate the trial.
after that you need to get your tomtom....... Edit the service account on your TT..... Keep your username the SAME...... Change the password to plus. on the Tom Tom NOT your account online.
Let me know how you get on with that. _________________ Thanks,
