Hi all,

My iPAQ was stolen on Sep 3rd (with TTN5)

I got a used iPAQ this weekend (with TTN3) (from a friend that has bought a car with built-in Satnav).

I tried to install my TTN5 - I've only activated once - so should be no problem for a 2nd activation!

But - system tells me there have been TWO activations - and the second happened on Sep 8th (after iPAQ stolen - and while I was TomTom-less).

I called customer service - and no problem - with proof of purchase, they'll give me another activation. But then I raised the issue of the second, mystery, activation.

According to the woman on the phone - it is impossible for someone to get the product code off the stolen iPAQ - and the ONLY way is that I must have been careless with my product code. Well the TT box has been on my shelf and no-one could have gotten access to it.

So - for the record - either TT's activation system has a bug (and is incorrectly capturing activations or posting to the wrong number), or it is possible to retrieve an activation code from a unit that has the software installed. The customer service person told me flat out she wasn't prepared to even log it on the system - she couldn't understand why I wouldn't just take my new code and move on.

It's also not possible for them to block a device number on their system to prevent it being registered again (even though my first iPAQ is now a known stolen unit)

So - they are worried about theft of their IP - but don't care about theft of anyone else's property. They could at least try to look up the IP address of the person that registered on the 8th.

So - shame on you TomTom!
