I'm a UPS driver and I'm interested in getting a Nav unit. I was looking at the C340 and the TomTomGo 700. I think I narrowed it down to the c340. Now my problem is that the battery ONLY lasts 4-5 hrs. I'll need around 10 hrs a day. We have no cigarette lighter plugs, and I jump from truck to truck so hard wiring is not an option.
Is there some type of external power source that I can put in my back pack and use when needed? A rechargeable power supply that I plug the cigarette lighter adapter in and then plug into the Nav unit???
Some type of unit like you would you laptop in but with a cigarette adapter????
Thanks in advance?
I need a Nav unit with Touchscreen, mininum buttons to push just to enter in an address. Nothing to fancy if you know of any more units with 12+ hrs of battery life. I have searched all over the net and ebay.
THe C340 also had better map coverage than the tom700.....
IF the unit only uses 10w, then this battery pack will last 9 hrs, with cigarette output.
This will work for me......
Thanks for anyone that tried to help me.
I'm going to order both of these units later today!

Hi
as a 'portable' gps system that I can use in friends cars or on coach outings etc, I use an ordinary rechargable sealed lead acid gell battery in a bum bag.(fannypack)
I have a nominal 12V at 2.2Ah that powers my PDA_Amplified GPS unit for several hours... I would say that a sealed lead acid battery of 7Ah may be the bees knees...
In my case, I use a ciggy lighter socket on the battery. For your application, you could use a much smaller polarised plug & socket... _________________ Axim X50 & TT5, Arkon CM820 powered mount with built in sirf2 gps

I Hasten to add that the powered GPS mount converts the 12v (Nominal) to 5V that is required by the PDA - If you consider a PDA route, then you must never wire the PDA direct to 12v (Unless up want to send smoke signals instead!) _________________ Axim X50 & TT5, Arkon CM820 powered mount with built in sirf2 gps
