Is it possible to downgrade from 5.1 to 5 without doing a hard reset.
Cheers

Having upgraded to 5.1 from 5 your license for TT5 is no longer valid. _________________ Steve I |

Are you sure? A free bug fix should not make the activation code change. Certainly mine didn't. Why someone would want to downgrade I am not sure.
TT5 introduced loads of bugs that were not in TT4 but I can't think of any advantages of TT5 over 5.1 |

If you look back, this has been discussed in various threads on this forum _________________ Steve I |

I don't remember reading thread on this. When I upgraded from 5 to 5.1 I did not have to reactivate the product. I still have my TT5 product code, the same hardware cose, and the same activation code from ttcode.. Are you saying the activation code I got with TT5 will not work if I have to reninstall TT5.1? How do I install 5.1? I only have it asa patch for TT5 - so have to install TT5 as far as I can see before using TT5.1 |

stevei seems to be getting confused with the upgrade from 3-5 with 5-5.1
when you upgrade from TT3 to TT% then your activation code becomes invalid for TT3
There is no such problem with downgrading from 5.1 to 5.
Not tried it without a hard reset tho.

if the activation code is the same way as they used to do in the past, the code was created using the pda owner name. so if you did a full reset but but the owner name back in the same, the original activation code should work.
on smartphones they use the imei number which is exclusive to each phone |

I had upgraded to 5.1 and found this caused more problems than 5.0. All I did was delete everything from PDA and then reinstalled 5.0. No problems found here. |

I upgraded from TTN3 to 5 (and then 5.1)
I bought a new 256mb SD card to put TTN5 on to.
I still have the old 128mb with TTN3 on and this also contains a backup from my PDA at the time.
If I uninstall TTN 5 from the PDA and then put the old 128 card back in and reinstall the backup on there - it all works fine.
If I then reverse the procedure I can go back to TTN5.1 ( I also have a PDA backup on that as well)
I own both licensed versions of the software - so I can't see there being any licensing issue. I can obviously ony run one or the other at any given time. |

Hi realistic
I know that this note won’t help you in your present predicament but it may in the future. Get Sprite Backup, its superb. The backup will let me go back from TT5.01 to TT5 or even back to TT3 should I so wish. It really is a life saver. |

If you bought both at full price then yes - but if you bought the upgrade to TT5 you agreed to revock the license to your copy of TT3 when you went through the upgrade proccess on the TT site. So in that case yo udo not own a right to use both. |

Just to clarify - I actually own two original licensed copies of TTN 3.
I had to buy a second copy (at full money) when my original Ipaq PDA went down after a month and I had to send it back under warranty.
At that time I could not be without SatNav, so I bought a second complete system to keep me mobile, whilst that was being assessed - but obviously my 1 month old TomTom had already been activated and would not load onto my second PDA.
I tried TomTom for another activation code, but that took an age to come through. So I bought another copy from Maplins and put it onto the second PDA
When the original PDA was replaced - I just sold it on Ebay and got virtually full money back, so all it cost me in the big picture was the price of a second copy of TTN3.
I now have TTN2, two copies of TTN3 and also TTN5.
Surely enough licences to keep me going for a while in there |
