Hi after having used a dual outlet ciggy lighter adaptor, my ipaq 3630 refuses to charge in the car. Now plugging to my PC with a USB cable, not only does it still refuse to charge but I noticed a burning smell, so rapidly yanked the lead out.

Do these units have anything like a fuse.. or is it bin time ? Sad

thanks
ED

They don't have a fuse, and I would be very carefull what else you plug into the car socket if its damaged the PDA, get the voltage checked out - I have seen car alternators go wrong and output around the 20V mark, which most 12V regulators for PDA should handle (not all will) secondly it could be just the battery that has let go - find someone at work with same PDA and swap batteries (if poss) to establish if that cures the problem - if not probably a costly repair - but check the car out before plugging another one - Mike

Wont be using that ciggy lighter doubler again... have chucked it in bin. Bought another 3630 from ebay so will keep old one for spare bits
