They then shipped me a tomtom, but somehow between them and UPS, it showed up at my works mail room as an empty packet.
I have now raised another "question" and got a response 2wks later of "we are looking into it".
The customer service line sucks - you can NEVER get to speak to anyone.
All you get is the patronising message "get help the easy way at tomtom.com".
interesting....
My MOWE CDs arrived from UPS sans product codes. Couldn't swear but package looked as though it had been tampered with. Lengthy process reporting via web. Phoned them instead resolved in 10 minutes.
Maybe TOmTOm should look into the security of UPS?
Posted: Fri Sep 23, 2005 11:36 pm Post subject: FINALLY I GOT A REPLACEMENT
After 9 separate attempts to get back thru to customer service (each involving the cut out - "we're to busy, call back later", with no option to wait), I amazingly finally got a call back from TT. The attempts had even been including 1 where i called their head office and tried to blag speaking to their head of product development (where incidentaly the PA said they were training 60 people right now for support), I was getting that p'd off with no joy.
The chap said yes he would investigate and chase up my problem with not yet receiving a replacement TTG. Two wks later no joy so I had to call back again - and miraculously I got through to Cust Service after only 2 attempts (tip - call Tuesday's 8.05am UK time). This time chap number two actually chased it up with his manager, and mentioned they've had a few issues with UPS. He promised to call me back same day, but didnt. However next day I spotted on my daily check to the web that a new TTG had been shipped to me. And Horray it showed up on Thursday almost 10 wks after raising my issue with a burnt out TomTom. Luckily also my 256SD card had not been fried either.
Hallelujah!
Just thought I'd share this so that folks are aware of the black hole you can get in with these guys as they simply do not have enough support staff/structure in place to deal with their products.....you have been warned.
