I think that it would be a good idea if we all contribute our experiences of how our GPS works through our windscreens. Obviously we'd have to share some vehicle details, so I'll start...

2004 (indicators in mirrors) VW Passat Estate 2.0 20V S, Good reception from front windscreen - not as far as I know coated or anything, just tinted at the top.
1997 VW Polo 1.4CL, Good reception from front windscreen.
1996 Ford Escort 1.8LX, Good reception from front windscreen.

C'mon guys lets help each other and add to this.

fair reception through front screen, at the sides, but poor in the middle
I use the external antenna instead and the reception is excellent

vw touran 2.0 tdi 2004,

works a treat (aldi medion gps), i get 9 sats most of the time and have a heat reflective window (front)..

Ford Mondeo with heated front windscreen. 10 sats most of time, no problems!

Citroen Picasso, with heat reflective glass.

Good reception without additional antennae but even better when connected and there also seems to be an earlier response from POI Warner on speed camera warnings.

Iveco Daily
Mounted on dash UNDER plastic lid for papers and such so it is not in the Sun but covered I dont have the Ariel piece out and i get perfect reception MD95900

I've got 2005 Fiat punto 16v sport - reception in the whole car is brilliant with no probs at all

Peugeot 306 estate OK in bottom right-hand corner Smile

SAAB 9-5 Estate No problems at all Smile

SAAB 900 Convertable - No problems at all - Better with the roof down !! :D 8)

and my 1937 Austin Ruby Saloon is great no problems at all and the car goes slow enough for the maps to catch up
