Hi,

Once you have your PPC loaded with eveything you want e.g Tom Tom navigator etc and you make a backup of it. Why does it not restore??

I have tried the standard restore but to no avail, ended up buying Sprite Backup, but this also does not work.

Is Tom Tom the problem or is it an inherent problem within the 2210?

Having to reinstall everything again which is a pain!! Evil or Very Mad

Any help / explanation would be appreciated.

Cheers!

What version of Sprite are you using? The HP cut-down version that comes with the iPAQ isn't as good as Sprite.

The latest version is 3.1.4 Build 2419 and it will work on a 2210, I've need to restore several times.

Hint - always create self running backup files! ;)

Regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Just checked and I'm running Version 3.1.1 Build 2072, seems an earlier version to yours.

Do you think this is the problem?

Cheers!

Update.....

Upgraded Sprite to version 3.1.4 and still did not work.
Evil or Very Mad
However tried again by installing Sprite first then opened the restore file on my CF card. Then unticked a file called...ttbtdev.dll and restored.

Guess What???..............IT WORKED!!!!! :D

A big shout to TalkingBollox for the advice in regards the file. TOP MAN!! 8)

Thanks!!!

I also have an iPAQ 2210 and the "HP" backup software has on many occasions brought back my config and all well. But...

If you keep the install files for your apps (read-only preferably to stop auto delete on install) on a mem card, then after a hard reset you can restore apps. I have the CAB files for TT5.1 and Memory Map on the CF card. Should I have to do a hard reset or after total power failure I can re-install and then it picks up maps etc. For both it's worth having reg/key files/whatever on CF card too.

Just read that and of course MMC/SD card just as useable but I prefer CF cards... the 2210 is not good accessing an SD card but a fast CF card is MUCH better. (More free advice) :D

You must CREATE the restore file under the new Sprite version. A restore file created under the old version will not work even if you later try to execute it with a new version of Sprite. The problem for restore files created by the earlier Sprite versions was the TTBTDEV.dll that you mention.

TTBTDEV.dll is the bluetooth driver file and having removed it, you will be unable to use TomTom with a bluetooth device in the future. Of course, if you only ever use a CF or wired receiver, this won't cause you any problem.

Steve

Thanks Steve, Thumbs Up

Very interesting!... I guess you've just saved me from posting again when I use my BT receiver!

Will make sure that I back up using the new version.

Thanks Again!

Might I also suggest that you create a self-executing restore file.

If you do so and store this on your SD or CF card, it will always be available for use in the event of a hard reset disaster situation. You can further back against major disaster by keeping a copy on your PC, CD, DVD or whatever.
