unable to update new tt patch (solution)

hope this helps i posted it in a message & thought it would be better with a new thread just incase anyone else is having problems ,it seems to work as another fellow user has done it as have i

1.download the zip file
2.copy it to a folder or create one
3.unzip using winzip or something
4.run the setup.exe
5. cancell the tomtom setup & now you will see some more files in your folder
6. open "nvapp" folder
7.open "app" folder
8.copy all 4 cab files ie highlight all 4 files and right click and copy

now on pc open on your pc... in my case
1.my computer
2.mobile device
3.my windows mobile based device
4.windows
5.start menu
6.programs
7.paste all cab files here ie right click and paste

now on your ppc
1.start
2.programs
3.find the cab files and run them
now you should be updated Very Happy

i have done it like this incase someone doesn't know everything and to make it easy ....well i hope anyway

Alternatively just download the .exe version of the upgrade & run that - much simpler & works first time...

the zip and exe versions are the same really. all the exe file is an zip self extracting file which starts setup.exe in da zip

Cool info Andy. The TomTom update installer definately leaves much to be desired. Personally, I'd recommend just updating the four CAB files (as per your instructions), uninstall and then reinstall TomTom (or cold boot, if it's not too much hassle).

When I used the factory installer on my test device (XDAIIs, beta 1.40 O2 ROM), it installed everything ok, but the first time I removed and re-inserted the SD card, it promptly reinstalled 5.0 Sad

Now I've updated the SD card installer to 5.1, it's nice to know that it will always install the new version should I need it.

ok maybe i didn't make it clear
but this is for people who's pda don't like the install via the .exe like mine ,i had to use the cab install
