I currently own a Quest which I use for my bike and car, it is absolutely brilliant.

Both my mother and my son are wanting to purchase a Sat Nav but only for in car use.

COSTCO are currently selling the Navman 610 @ £235. And the good thing about COSTCO is that if you are not satisfied with your purchase you can take it back at anytime and get a full refund.

How good is this 610, does it have a proximaty sensor for waypoints (speed cameras etc). Is there anything else on the market for a similar price and is far better than the 610.

Any advice please.

I bought the 610 from cost-co a few days ago, I previously had a look at a few other models that my friends & relatives have & can honestly say that i would rather have the 610 because its so easy to use Laughing

The only thing that i thought did let it down was the lack of a battery Rolling Eyes But hey!...you can't go wrong for £200 Wink

Mine is just great.....no internal battery so only for use in vehicle, but I intend to source a 12 volt supply to give me mobility. Its big and easy to use, and for me, £170 at Currys.......... possibly a special but was`nt indicated as a `managers special`?
POIs`? I have installed the `all camera sites` into the 610, You have to edit the first line in the .csv file. (first extract the file to a temp file, then edit the file using NOTEPAD. place the cursor at the start of the 2nd line that contains data, then using the backspace key, delete the whole line above. ie longitude. latitude. name. By doing this you will delete and close the space, so that the 1st line just starts with data) then select save. now go to the POI editor within the SmartSTDesktop that has to be installed from the supplied disk, then using the POI editor, locate the .csv file that you edited and select `save to device` then using the browse function go back to the temp folder and locate the .bmp file, click ok and give it a name when requested, and install. The full instructions are available from the downloads page!
Take care
Chas

more info.......

You can set in feet/metric the distance togo for the audible sound warning for GATSO. Mine is set using the scroll arrow to something like 1/2 a mile but you can play with the settings. Also you can set a speed limit, so if you drift over 30mph in a built up area for example, you`ll get a musical chime to warn you? Some roads in my vicinity are not yet on the database, so will not see these!
