Can anyone confirm any other fixes apart from improved bluetooth and VGA memory leak fix? _________________ Medion 95000 | TT3.07 | Kingston 512MB SD |

It hasn't changed the version on my MDA Compact and all of the bugs remain. Tried it three times and several soft resets. Glad it's worked for SOME of you. |

one thing that doesn't work is attempting the install from in side tomtom - using update software - a pity as with most pda's having wifi now this would be a very simple method.

Here's a question a put to Tomtom:
The tomtom navigator 5 keeps eating away at the pocket pc memory until there is none left. Tomtom then switches off and my PDA hangs/crashes. This is a known issue, and it's possibly related to the VGA nature of the PDA (it has been reported and discussed through various forums). Will you offer a fix for this? Is it currently being worked on? and if so, What is the anticipated time-frame?
Please answer my questions in full. I need to be reassured that the software will work correctly in the very near future otherwise I will have to return it for a refund. It's no good to me if it continues to crash every 2hrs.
I'm very uphappy with the TTNAV5 upgrade. it has obvioulsy not been correctly beta tested.
And here's their answer:
We have recently released a patch entitled Version 5.10 which may solve the technical issues you have been experiencing with Navigator 5.
The new update version 5.10 is available from www.tomtom.com/3361
This version will fixed the following issues:
1.The TT BT GPS and third party GPS configuration issue.
2.QTEK 9090 and clones keyboard issue
3.IPAQ 4700 freezing after 15 mn or closing the application
4.The call handling on PDAs with integrated phone
5.Exiting Navigator turning off bluetooth
6.Dell X50V freezing issue
7.The IPAQ 6340 with the message "No GPS device" when flight mode is on.
We hope that this resolves the software issues you have encountered and that you enjoy using TomTom Navigator 5.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
The update appears to have fixed some issues for me, but I still need to give it a long run... |

Installed TT5.1 on my Dell Axim x50v.
It took 4 attempts in total, 2 freezes on the PC mid install, 1 freeze on the PDA mid install, 4th time it worked ok.
Can confirm the VGA lockup problem is fixed, running for 2 hours up to now, up from 20 mins.
TT5 now exits immediately it is closed and doesn't tie up the PDA for 40s like it used to.
Although not listed as fixed in this issue, I get a GPS lock within seconds of starting TT5 now instead of 30-40mins before the fix. ( this occurred if the GPS mouse had been turned off for a few hours. I suspected that if TT5 did not get a fix within a short period it forced a cold start, but can't prove it of course.. If the mouse was left permanently powered up then TT5 got a fix within seconds. This is with the silver TT wired mouse )
So far 5.1 is a small step in the right direction
Still no working "advanced planning" or Itinerary though
So how long to 5.2 do you think ? |

Forgot to mention that when TT5.1 is running the PDA still runs as hot as a hot thing on a hot sunny day in the sahara .... |

GPS sat fix appears to be better, before it would take 10-20 mins to get a fix, it's 1 - mins now!
Going on a long run Thursday so I'll check whether it crashes & returns to the Windows screen, or not !! |

What about under clocking the Dell?
Maybe then it won't use so much processing power and cause the PDA to over heat?

Any idea how long this patch takes? I left it running for over 15 minutes after agreeing the licence and selecting the options but nothing appears to have happened.

I want to retract my previous statement about faster GPS lock with TT5.1.
Tried an experiment this morning.
Left the GPS mouse switched off overnight. Powered it up this morning with my old PDA attached running TT3. Get a lock in 20s.
Unplugged the old PDA, power off to the GPS mouse.
GPS mouse back on , new PDA with TT5.1 running attached.
No lock even after 30mins....
Must have been a fluke when it got a lock straight away after installing 5.1
It just reinforces my theory that TT5 (5.1) is forcing a cold start of the GPS mouse when it shouldn't.

I refuse to underclock my PDA just because TomTom can't get their software to work properly. It's their problem, let them fix it !! |

I have a TT wired GPS and I have always found that TT gets a fix from it in about ten seconds or less. |
