RE: SD card

when i first purchased tt3 and used it on my XDA it ran great for about 2 4weeks using a lexar 256MB card. Then i started getting the lockup problems and after reading people where getting better results with other cards i ordered a 256MB Kingston Elite Pro. The lockups stopped and about 2weeks later i was using the Laxar for MP3's and it just died completely. It was under warranty so it was replaced and worked fine after that.

I now have a 1GB Sandisk Extreme III which works very well with a noticable speed difference between the other 2.

I also have a friend that was having locking up problems and i suggested he try another card and he was fine after that too.

I have not tested on TT5 but is does sound like the same problem.

Hope this helps.

At the rate that people are finding new bugs it could be quite a long time!

Similar to painting the Forth Bridge, as soon as they fix one fault another one is discovered.

Just as long as they fix the memory leak I would be happy - it looks awful in QVGA now I have gotten used to VGA but obviously am not so keen on having it crashing every 40 mins. That and the 100% clock cycle thing really isnt good in this heat - my PDA gets so hot I can barely pull it out of its cradle.

to be fair to tomtom - there was nothing on their website to suggest an update was likely today.

It just looks like those in the know don't no jack! (hopefully they will now bend a dutch ear or 2 to ensure the update is released - or drag them back for the coffee house to do some work on it).

It has now been 6 weeks since ttn5 was released and they can't even be bothered to post an update to correct the faulty install routine (with postcodes etc - Just to avoid the support calls I would have thought they could have released a file to create a tomtom directory on the storage card!)

looks like tomtom is even less customer centric than they used to be (hard to imagine) unless you are a Go user.

Ian

it looks that way doesn't it .the GO is something they can control whereas ppc's can vary drastically

It does seem rather tough on TomTom. Members make a definite statement on this forum about the date when a patch will be issued, then TomTom get castigated when it doesn't appear!

Well, there was an update posted today unfortunately it wasn't for TTN5, but I noticed that TT Go was updated from 5.20 to 5.201.

Perhaps someone got their wires crossed? I mean 5.1 & 5.201, just take out the 2 numbers in middle.

No it wasn't a mix up as it the information came direct from the chap at HP dealing with TT, and HP are not selling the GO product, it maybe that the update has only been released to HP today?

The strange thing is now that TT have the common platform, I would expect a new release/update to be released for all platforms as the code is now supposed to be common.

Yet again the release of the GO update confirms my view that the GO product is now their main area of interest.

I doubt the code is the same. The system design and functionality will be the same - but coding to achieve that between a PDA and a TTG running a Linux kernel is bound to call for differences.
